Instagram addicts, it’s time to have a good look at your new competition: the Nokia Lumia 808. On Monday, we introduced you to one of the most talked about gadgets to come out of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Without further ado, here’s a glimpse of what the Nokia Lumia 808 PureView, and its 41-megapixel camera, is capable of.
The first thing to take note of when viewing these unreal images, shot with a camera phone, is that Nokia has not edited them.
Secondly, Nokia decided to use the beautiful Western Cape to showcase the camera’s capabilities for a good few of the images it featured on its Flickr account.
Thirdly, Nokia didn’t even shoot these at 41-megapixels. They shot them at 38-megapixels.
Lastly, we were just really confused as to why Nokia chose to use its Symbian operating system, and not the Windows version, for this phone.
But, Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop, said the move was made because Nokia wanted to get the product to market as quickly as possible:
We brought the Nokia 808 to Symbian first, because it was the fastest way to bring it to a commercial environment, where we could learn from our consumers and they could learn about this new experience.
The AFP reported, that after the launch on Monday, Nokia saw its share price plummet more than five-and-a-half per cent as a result.
Either way, the camera is pretty epic.
