Tens of thousand of protestors have done something awesome, and there wasn’t even any violence involved. Vladimir Putin is up for re-election in Russia, and a lot of people aren’t happy about it. Instead of petrol bombs and angry mobs, something much cooler happened.
Protestors rocked up on Sunday morning wearing white scarves, waving white balloons and holding white flowers. Can you guess the colour of the resistance? They filled up the massive ring road surrounding Russia’s capital, known as the Garden Ring. They are calling for the removal of Vladimir Putin, the Russian president.
The ten-mile street was lined with protestors holding hands and forming a human chain around the nation’s capital. They were cheered on by motorists who decorated their cars and honked their horns in support of the group. 36 000 people to were required to complete the circle. Official numbers report only 11 000, although many protestor state that the target was reached. Still – a pretty cool non-violent way to protest.
Why can’t all protests follow this lead?
