Slovaks To Name Bridge Into Austria After Chuck Norris

You don’t cross this bridge – it crosses you. A bridge that crosses the Morava river between Austria and Slovakia is in need of a name. In the spirit of democracy, the local government left it up to the people to decide. The result? The leading contender is to have the bridge named after martial-arts-expert-turned-actor, Chuck Norris.

The two other top names in the running for the bridge, which will cross the border to Austria, were Maria Theresa after an Austro-Hungarian empress, and the Devinska cycling bridge, in honour of the closest village. The bridge will be for the use of cyclists and pedestrians.

The final decision as to the bridge’s name will be made by a regional assembly, but a spokespersons has said that the decision of the internet poll will be honoured. “Chuck Norris” is currently leading with 74% of the vote.

Voting closes in April.
