Nobody has any idea where they’re planning on getting funding from – but like a kid with an extended birthday wish list, NASA has unveiled some amazing concepts of future, eco-friendly aircraft, which they’re calling “greener flying machines for the year 2025.” Assuming they’re still here then.
The idea at the moment is to create vehicles that operate at twice the fuel efficiency of the present aircraft models, with harmful emissions cut in half. NASA has not yet commented on whether or not they will be coming with racing stripes or a pillow fort.
Initial indications suggest that the preliminary designs are actually way more emission-efficient than existing models, but the matter of fuel efficiency remains a problem. Which is besides the point: here’s a gallery of cool NASA aircraft designs.
