Late yesterday afternoon, and once more in the early hours of this morning, the hashtag #kidnapping began trending locally on Twitter.
Multiple tweets claimed that a child had been kidnapped from the leafy Cape Town suburb of Newlands, and a red VW City Golf Velocity with the registration STW048GP was identified as the getaway car.
Multiple sources have since reported that the claims of the kidnapping are false, owing to the fact that an identical false claim was circulated on October 27 last year.
And in other news, the teenagers of the Southern Suburbs need to take up golfing, or decoupage, because this suburban leisure vibe is clearly boring them.
