Fake Louis Vuitton Condoms Go Viral On Twitter

The Twittosphere went a little gaga earlier this week over pictures of a supposed line of Louis Vuitton condoms that the luxury French fashion house was planning to unleash on their highbrow clientele.

Where safe sex meets haute couture

The Twittersphere went a little gaga earlier this week over pictures of a supposed line of Louis Vuitton condoms that the luxury French fashion house was planning to unleash on their highbrow clientele, even so far as to get “Louis Vuitton Condoms” trending globally.

Wrapped in the iconic LV design, these prophylactics were advance priced at a whopping $68 for one.

Except, as with their bags and accessories, the likelihood of a fake grows proportionally with the exclusivity of the designer. The same is true here, as these couture condoms were revealed to be the work of an American designer for an HIV awareness campaign late last year.

No comment yet from Marc Jacobs or his ilk of beautiful accessory elves at LV, who might, given the Twitter furore that exploded over just one image of a possible Louis Vuitton condom, be seriously considering putting together something similar for realsies.

At US$68 a pop (pardon the pun), who wouldn’t?

(Thanks for the link, Steyn!)
