Hacker group, Anonymous, evidently not content with taking down three major corporations and the US Department of Justice’s websites, are continuing their MegaUpload revenge spree, having gained access to CBS.com and deleting every file on the server, while keeping Universal Music inoperative with sustained denial-of-service attacks.
The prevailing message here seems to be “If Megaupload is down, you are down too.” Which is especially frightening for people who didn’t even know what Megaupload was until about a week ago.
Brazilian sites seem to be another target, for no clear reason – but a couple of major websites, including that of Brazil’s federal district, have been taken down as part of the apparent Megaupload backlash.
Vivendi, a French media company that used to own Universal, has also been taken apart, with the following message posted at the site’s former address:
By participating in the lobbying culture, Vivendia is guilty of undemocratic pressure from the government, and is directly responsible for ‘act of war brought by the FBI against the community of the Internet.
Megaupload return any way,
Universal will not win.
We are Anonymous, we are legion, we do not forget, expect us!
I guess they’re French hackers, so their English isn’t great?
