Man, Samsung, you guys have been losing pretty much everything against Apple in the past couple of weeks. Germany’s Mannheim Regional court reached a decision on one point of the continuing lawsuit between Apple and Samsung, rejecting the claim that Apple have infringed upon Samsung’s German 3G patents.
I mean, don’t be putting all your Apples in one basket yet over the whole dispute – the issue of 3G patents is just one of seven that Samsung has accused Apple of infringing – but the fact that Judge Andrea Voss rejected Samsung’s claim altogether does seem a little damning.
Had there been any uncertainty about the validity of Samsung’s claim in the first place, there’d likely have been a stay of judgement to go through the paperwork – the outright rejection suggests that the court doesn’t think Apple was infringing upon Samsung’s 3G patent, or that Samsung has exhausted its IP rights, neither of which bodes especially well for the Korean company’s six other outstanding claims.
Have a nice weekend, by the by.
