If you’ve been on the internet at all in the last year or two, chances are you’ve stumbled onto what is known as a “tumblr.” These are trendy blogs, mostly filled with pictures, and the occasional short posts by their users. The company is now looking at opening its own blogging operation.
With over 30 tumblr blogs transforming into book deals, it seems that the next natural step can only be to form and create your own journalistic platform. Tumblr is looking at hiring editorial staff, not only for it’s staff blog but also to curate content from its tumblr network, which has been valued at $800 million.
Let’s just hope that this doesn’t go the route of previous tech-goes-media companies, such as AOL-Time Warner, Yahoo!, or AOL-Huffington Post.
