News24 reported the following:
Embattled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema was elected to the ANC’s provincial executive committee (PEC) in Limpopo on Tuesday with 592 votes.
He was among the 20 people who will serve in the new PEC, headed by his close ally ANC provincial chairperson Cassel Mathale.
Malema has been elected to the position, despite facing stringent disciplinary sentencing handed down by the ANC, which effectively bar him from ANC membership for five years, and therefore prohibit any kind of involvement in official ANC structures on his part.
Malema is currently appealing the sentence, and is therefore legally capable of holding office in the PEC, until such time as his appeal is rejected.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Malema could face new disciplinary charges, for his public ridicule of President Jacob Zuma this last week.
