Late last week, 2oceansVibe reported on Texas Governor and US Presidential candidate, Rick Perry’s appalling YouTube political ad, which subsequently became one of the most disliked YouTube video since Rebecca Black’s “Friday”.
Governor Perry hasn’t responded to the towering wave of criticism leveled at his anti-gay ad, but something must have hit home, because his subsequent ad, posted Friday, has both comments and ratings functions disabled. Smart move Rick, you absolute coward.
It didn’t take long for the internet to respond to Perry’s ridiculously offensive ad either. Besides over 120 000 dislikes on YouTube, before the Perry campaign removed the counter, here is a taste of the many fine parodies his bigoted nonsense stimulated:
Star Trek alumnus, George Takei, pointed out this “delicious” coincidence on his Twitter.
Tumblr went keerazy, of course.
And the inevitable video parodies on YouTube:
Funny or Die came up with a splendid retort to Perry’s nonsense, from the man himself, no less.
What’s more, the Harvard Political Review was quick to point out that, besides Perry’s unfortunate choice of jacket for his clip, the score to his little video was by an American composer called Aaron Copeland. Who was also gay. Fail upon fail.
The internet has spoken, Rick Perry. You are the #fail of the century.
