TopTV has signed an agreement with Playboy TV to add three adult TV channels from Playboy to their existing line-up in 2012. But Isak Burger and his Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) is threatening a nationwide boycott campaign against TopTV. Burger says pornograhpy is “the new crack.”
According to Burger, TopTV is “deceptive” and lacks of “integrity.” Here is parts of a statement he released:
Vino Govender, CEO of On Digital Media which runs TopTV, made it clear at last year’s TopTV launch that they operate their business according to strict Christian ethics codes. He promised that they would not start broadcasting pornography and said they do not want to poison the minds of millions of South African children. What one can now conclude is that the poisoning of millions of children’s minds has now become acceptable business practice for TopTV. Men who compulsively watch porn struggle to have normal sexual relations with their wives. This leads to marital problems and divorce. Family breakdowns are a major contributing factor to crime, violence and other social problems in South Africa.
This after TopTV has made it very clear that the porn channels aren’t even part of the regular TopTV package.
Tatho Mahapa of TopTV explains:
We are going to offer the service as a separate, stand-alone option. People who do not want it, will therefore not have access to it.
