So Jack Parow appeared out of nowhere at the 2oceansvibe Media compound last week, sporting a new afro. I can’t be absolutely certain, but I have a feeling his new look could be defined as “zef.” We flew radio control helicopters around The Compound for a while, during which time he explained to me that the name of the album and the first track, “Eksie Ou,” is shortened Afrikaans for “Ek is die ou,” which means, “I’m the guy.”
Jack Parow certainly is the guy. He pulled out his iPad and showed me the vinyl Jack Parow toys that are launching soon. And then he reached into his bag and forced me to taste his new Jack Parow Braai Sous. And I’m glad he did – it’s blerrie delicious!
I kept a bottle and marinaded some chops in that stuff this weekend. Nothing short of a miracle, I tell you! Do yourself a favour and get a bottle.
Truth be told – the album is pretty rad – I enjoyed the title track Eksie Ou (it’s completely hysterical – he has a go at quite a few metro and hipster institutions), as well as most of the others.
He’s even done tracks with Gazelle, David Kramer and others. Pretty sick.
So get the braai sous and the CD as well. Crank up a braai and play the CD loud. It’s the Jack Parow Experience, and it’s yours to own!
