Turns out being left-handed really isn’t very good for you. A new study has revealed that left-handers not only get paid less, but are also more likely to get schizophrenia and ADHD.
Other recent research suggests that mixed-handedness – using different hands for daily tasks and not having a dominant one – may be even more strongly linked than left-handedness to ADHD and possibly other conditions.
According to experts, roughly 10% of people are left-handed. Only 1% of people are ambidextrous. What causes people not to favor their right hand is only partly due to genetics – even identical twins, who have 100% of the same genes, don’t always share handedness.
Although there is no difference in the average IQ between lefties and righties, there is some evidence that suggests that lefties are a little more creative. On average though, the study revealed that left-handed people earned 10% less than their right-handed counterparts. This is in a study done by Harvard.
My advice? Stop using your left hand, or at least try faking it.
