With over 30,000 downloads of the mobile streaming app so far, 2oceansvibe Radio has announced it’s highest monthly listenership in the last year.
While national FM stations decline gradually, true measured stats show a daily listenership of 15,000 for 2oceansVibe Radio. This converts into a weekly listenership of 18,000 single feeds (people) and a total monthly listenership of 25,000 upwardly-mobile high-LSM people tuning-in to South Africa’s #1 Digital radio station during the month of November. This excludes multiple listeners through single feeds (offices etc), which conservative estimates push the listenership to 30,000 people a month.
Proof in the take up of 2oceansvibe’s unique offering, 88% of people tuning in for the first time return as regular listeners as this fast growing station continues to deliver what the public have been missing on the airwaves.
It is interesting to note that 2oceansvibe Radio’s online listenership is higher than the online listenership of most of SA’s biggest FM radio stations, including Cape Town’s biggest radio station, as well as their AM talk radio offering. It stands to reason that, given the choice, people in this lifestyle segment prefer this type of offering. People prefer radio which they understand, with DJs and ads and call-ins from people they can actually relate to. And with FM stations using playlists with as few as 400 songs, 2oceansvibe Radio’s massive playlist of 2,000+ songs also doesn’t hurt.
In terms of the all-important listening time, 2oceansvibe Radio has an average listening time of a whopping 2 hours 28 minutes, which towers in comparison to many of the big FM stations, whose average listener time is often as low as 20 minutes. That’s right, 2oceansvibe Radio has brought back the ancient pastime of listening to radio for long periods of time! Like your grandparents used to do it!
This is very exciting news for approved brands, as listeners can act on what they hear immediately. How many people listening to FM in their cars are able to recall a phone number or a website? Hardly any. And how many people on their computer or mobile phone can act on something immediately? You don’t need to answer that – I think we all know the answer. After all, no-one has FM radio at home or work anymore. Certainly not the movers and shakers and opinion leaders.
Our new Johannesburg studio is launching in Jan/Feb 2012 in Melrose Arch – we look forward to your visit 😉
