Gabriele Amorth
Gabriele Amorth is the Vatican’s chief exorcist. And if he is to be believed, he’s pretty good at it with just under 70 000 banished evil spirits under his belt. He says yoga is the work of the devil and leads to a belief in Hinduism, which, in turn, leads to evil.
Here is his watertight reasoning:
Yoga is Satanic because it leads to a worship of Hinduism and all eastern religions are based on a false belief in reincarnation. Practicing yoga is Satanic, it leads to evil just like reading Harry Potter. In Harry Potter the Devil acts in a crafty and covert manner, under the guise of extraordinary powers, magic spells and curses.
When someone brought up the whole “science” thing, the priest had an answer ready:
Science is not worth a jot when it comes to explaining evil. The scientist simply explores what God has already created.
Amorth recently took some time off fighting the hordes of hell to speak at a film festival in Italy this week. He was there to introduce a new American exorcism movie, The Rite, which stars Anthony Hopkins as a Jesuit priest.
No word yet on when he is going to start banishing all the demons occupying the bodies of priests who molest, abuse, and rape young children.
