Visitors to Cape Town (let’s face it, the migration to the Mother City for the summer has definitely started) may appreciate it if you point out Table Mountain to them tomorrow evening. With 1 December marking World Aids Day, the City of Cape Town has agreed to light up the natural wonder in red between 19h00 and 23h00.
This forms part of an international campaign which aims to “turn the world red” in support of Aids sufferers. The campaign will also donate the sale proceeds of a number of unique red products, which have been developed in conjunction with international brands, to the Global Fund for the fight against Aids in Africa.
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town claims to have exceeded its HIV testing target for the year, with more than half a million people over the age of 15 having received Aids tests over the last 12 months. Keep up the good work Cape Town.
