Art in South Africa tends to suffer from two things: landscape oil paintings, and the expense of awesome, contemporary art.
Enter, stage left, a company named “Like Limited Edition”.
These cats are essentially importers and magpie-eyed dealers of foreign and local contemporary art – but their choice to target up and coming artists means that the pieces are both awesome, and comparatively cheap.
We buy the works of selected print makers and street artists through collaborations with the UK based galleries who represent them to periodically hold exhibitions in South Africa. It is our aim to make the price of art accessible to the SA market through shortening the link between the artist and the people who appreciate art.
We want to make beautiful art accessible so that if you like it, you can have it.
Nice vibe. Word is, they’re having something of an exhibition this weekend in Johannesburg, and plan to bring events to Kaapstad.
Here are the details.
