Hiking nude across the Swiss Alps became that much harder this week as a Swiss appeals court upheld a ruling against a Swiss man fined for hiking in the nude past a family area. Switzerland does not have laws against public nudity, but does prohibit public indecency. Ergo, you can happily hike across the frosty meadows in the altogether, but not if there are minors present, and now, the court decision allows individual cantons (regions) to impose fines on nude hikers, and restrict access to those lofty trails. Balls!

Not to fear though, other countries in Europe offer nude hikers and “nakation” (a real word!) enthusiasts a warmer welcome. Dankerode, a small town west of Berlin opened an 18km long nude hiking trail just last year, which is also open to clothed hikers, just as long as they’re aware of the additional… fauna they might catch sight of along the trail. There is an active market of nude and nude-friendly cruise operators working the Mediterranean circuit, as well as several popular nude sporting tournaments.

So, if you’re keen to get your peen out on a European getaway, do engage the Google to find out more. Alternatively, you could always go the British route which ends up exactly the same way, only with a lot more beer and Spanish island beaches involved. Your call.
