I feel a little bad for Wieden + Kennedy, Old Spice’s advertising agency; everything they’ve done since introducing Isaiah Mustafa as the Old Spice Guy has been subject to comparison, not always fairly. Which is a pity, because they’re killing it here with their new “Smell Better Than Yourself” campaign.
The Wieden + Kennedy guys know what they’re doing, obviously – they’re not competing with Mustafa’s on-screen, talking-to-the-camera charm, but they’re keeping up their whole manliness schtick:
“The scents of Old Spice turn embarrassingly normal guys into face model champions who smell like adventure and fine cutlery. So douse your body regions with the scents of Old Spice and “Smell Better Than Yourself.”
Who doesn’t want a bear in a sidecar?
