Thailand’s Thai Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department confirmed that a total of 562 people have already died during the more than three-month long flooding taking place there, which is the worst in over 50 years. Nevertheless, some Thai residents affected by the flooding have begun dealing with the lemons that life has thrown at them in unique ways.
The report states that 5,3 million residents, or nearly 2 million households, are still suffering because of the extensive waters that seem as if they just won’t subside.
At least 20 provinces, including the Bangkok province, and the central and northeastern regions, are still under water in many places and another 44 provinces have begun the long restoration process.
Losses have already been estimated at $4,5 billion with the total amount estimated to exceed $25 billion.
As it stands, 64 out of 77 provinces have been flooded, and more than 13 million people have been directly affected.
The human spirit is a remarkable thing though, and a blog has emerged showcasing some of the resilient humans making the best out of a really horrible situation.
