Nonhle Thema lost the plot again last night on Twitter. She tried to have another catfight with Bonang Matheba because Bonang had mentioned Nonhle’s name in an interview. But Nonhle ended up battling herself instead. It could also be because Bonang has more Twitter followers than Nonhle, and that Nonhle was jealous over Bonang’s new True Love cover shot.
Bonang is a beautiful young woman at the top of her game right now. It therefore comes as little surprise that Nonhle is a little jealous, because after all, Nonhle believes she is the only person deserving of any accolades.
Have a look at this flurry of tweets from dearest Nonhle:
No Nonhle, no, you’re not like God…
Did you see what she did there? She actually likened herself to God. I can here South Park’s Mr Mackey right now: “Drugs are bad, mkay.”
She eventually calmed down a little and tweeted this:
@NonhleThema: Ok so now im calm…..hate it when i get mad of peeps using my name for their own PR…..like Dont talk about me in your interviews
Thema didn’t respond to requests about exactly which interview she referenced, but judging by PR reports in the media, it’s likely to be something in the December issue of True Love that pissed her off a bit.
I particularly enjoyed some of the humorous responses she received, like this one from Richard Hardiman:
@RichardHardiman: Now a bad time? Should I come back after the come down? RT @NonhleThema: Dont Fuck with me rite now…..just dont…
And this one from @Crazie_Medic:
@Crazie_Medic: My twitter seems to be smoking swazi weed!! Busy suggesting that I follow Nonhle!!
It really has been Bonang’s year though, Nonhle: the Mail and Guardian listed her as one of 2011’s Most Influential Young South Africans in Media. She also won Most Stylish Media Personality at the 2011 South African Style Awards (that must hurt, Nonhle, doesn’t it?), and she has graced numerous magazine covers too.
Nonhle hasn’t really won anything, except Drama Queen of the year at the Feather Awards.
Mapula Nkosi, Deputy Editor at True Love, tells it like it is:
We can’t think of any celebrity who proves the staying power of young black female talent in the competitive media industry as much as Bonang does.
We’re really excited to have her headline our most exciting issue of the year.
Most surprising however, was the fact that the topic #UnfollowNonhle didn’t start trending again on Twitter.
