What film has Hollywood hot under the collar…?

With Potter gone, and Twilight in the departure lounge, we’re all casting around for the next massive book-to-screen serial to fill the gap left by speccy-wizard and glitter-fangs.

Well here it is! Lionsgate have dropped the trailer for The Hunger Games, an upcoming film based on the first of the immensely successful Hunger Games trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. Not to spoil what is an tremendously addictive read, but the action takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of America, where one boy and one girl from different regions must go to the central city and compete in the titular tournament to the death! Hijinks ensue.

The much anticipated film collects some top class young talent together for the battle royale, and will be released in March next year. Sequel, Catching Fire, is slated for a February 2013 release, with final installment, Mockingjay likely to follow in 2014. Er… Harry who?
