Whenever anybody talks about viral advertising, something deep inside me gets a little closer to breaking. So please understand that when I say that this campaign by Innocent Foods, which lowers its prices the more social media exposure it gets (“the more people that tweet, the cheaper you eat”) could go nicely viral, I mean it.
Innocent is a UK-based company, unfortunately, so the lowered prices have no impact on most of us whatsoever. Also they mostly sell pots of curry and smoothies. But the idea is very cool – they’ve set up a live graph displaying the amount of twitter attention the campaign’s received, which corresponds to a given discount, ranging from a 50p discount to “free.”
Says the Innocent site:
Here’s the deal. For a limited time the more tweets we get about #tweetandeat, the bigger the discount we’ll offer.
Collective buying power is where it’s at. So get your friends, workmates and that bloke sat next to you on the bus tweeting now to push up the Tweet-O-Meter and get more discount.
So I mean yeah, that’s pretty rad.
