With much confusion surrounding the names Kloof Street, Kloof Road and Kloof Nek Road, the lower portion of Kloof Street couldn’t be a better candidate for a new neighbourhood name. Forming part of the expansive Gardens suburb, this flurrying node of Cape Town’s city includes such popular haunts as the Mount Nelson Hotel, vida e, Wellness Warehouse, Hudsons Burger Joint, Greens, Rick’s Cafe, Woolworths, The Power & The Glory, Rafiki’s, Nando’s, Mabu Vinyl, Spar, Checkers, Osaka, Long Kloof Studios, Societi, Saigon and Klooftique, among many others.
The ever-growing Name Your Hood initiative (www.nameyourhood.co.za) has already named five previously unbranded, yet important pockets of Cape Town, the most recent being The Green Mile – which is that stretch of Green Point which includes the likes of Giovanni’s, Manos, Hudsons Burger Joint (On Somerset), vida e, Jade, Primedia, the Cape Royale hotel and the Green Point pharmacy.
Some good names (plus motivation for each one) have already been submitted for the lowest part of Kloof Street, including Park Central, Kloof Village, Ubuntu Tree, Hipster Avenue, The Edge, Kloof and many more! Check them all out, support a name (or give your own + motivation why) at nameyourhood.co.za
Visit Name Your Hood’s website to get involved and to tour your city. They’ve even got street view interactive maps that allows you to virtually stroll through each neighbourhood!
