Diane Taylor
Diane Taylor is a 92 year-old great-grandmother from the UK. Like any other woman of her age and stature, she went down to her local convenience store to buy a bottle of whisky. The shop however refused to sell her any alcohol because she had no ID with her to prove that she is over 18.
Diane says she was on her way home from a check-up with her doctor when she went to buy a bottle of whisky “for her son.” She says she asked the girl behind the counter to repeat herself three times. “I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing, I thought it was a joke. I ended up storming out in indignation. It is just ridiculous to ask someone of my age to prove they are an adult, I find it offensive.”
A spokesman for the store had to enforce a strict “no ID, no sale” policy or risk losing their licence. He also added that they were “very sorry”.
