Where do you fit in?
Last week 2oceansVibe reported on the release on the UN Population Fund State of World Population 2011 report, which estimates that by the end of October 2011, the number of humans in the world would soar past seven billion.
The BBC has created a cool application on their website, using UN population division data, that allows you to find out where you figure in the swelling world population on earth, and also where you figure in the total number of people born since they began recording such things. It’s quite a mind-boggling set of estimates either way. There’s also a lot of material attached, which explains the methodology of the application and what the figures mean.
To demonstrate, I shall offer my own birthday as the 2oceansVibe guinea pig: I was born on 23rd December 1980, so:
Pretty cool, if a little humbling! Try it out yourself here.
What’s your number?
