The US Powerball lottery, which is played by people all over the world, had a jackpot this last weekend of $200 million (R1,5 billion). Whilst there were many smaller winners, no one had the right numbers to win the big jackpot prize. That means that the jackpot rolls over and gets bigger. This Wednesday’s US Powerball lottery jackpot is now set at $245 million, which works out to a staggering two billion Rand.
Stuart Doyle, a local man who plays the overseas lotteries every week, had this to say, “I know a lot of people who only play the overseas lotteries when the jackpot is over a billion Rand. Which I find quite amusing, because there is nothing wrong with half a billion Rand! But now that it has rolled over to two billion Rand, anyone would be crazy not to enter! Why would you risk not giving yourself that chance?”
Bill Gates’ house in Washington is valued at $150 million.
If you win Wednesday’s lottery – you could buy the same thing…
We couldn’t agree with you more, Stuart. And that’s why we will buy another five tickets for Wednesday’s draw – just like we did for the last draw. Some people say the chances of winning are small – I have often won smaller prizes. A couple grand here, a couple hundred there. It constantly reminds me that anything is possible – but it’s up to you to present that opportunity. Believe me, the chances are exactly zero, with no ticket at all!
Take this couple, for example. Dave and Angela Dawes. They won the Euromillions lottery the other day (101 million pounds jackpot prize = R1,2 billion), and even gave 20 of their friends a million pounds each.
Do you think they would be cruising around in a chopper like this if they didn’t buy a ticket?
