In a heart-warming TV moment reminiscent of the movie Slumdog Millionaire, a poor Indian man has became the first person to win the $1 million prize in his country’s version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Sushil Kumar, a 27-year-old computer operator and tutor who earns less than $150 a week, says the win is beyond his wildest dreams. But he claims he was able to bag the biggest prize ever in the hugely popular TV game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, by listening religiously to the BBC’s Hindi Service.
Sushil is from Bihar, one of the poorest states in India. He says he’ll use his awesome winnings to buy a family home and pay off his debts.
