Foschini Withdraws T-shirts Following Feminist Outrage

The Foschini Group has withdrawn three T-shirts from their stores after FeministsSA asked its followers to boycott the shopping chain. The reason for the campaign was a series of male t-shirts with slogans such as “I put the STD in STUD, all I need is U” and “You looked better from behind”.

According to FeministsSA’s website, these shirts are “women-hating, reckless and, tasteless.” It is also “offensive, inappropriate and simply stupid.”

The T-shirts were being sold at Markhams and Sports Scene shops. According to The Foschini Group’s communications manager Kathryn Sakalis, they were meant to be tongue-in-cheek.
