A group of four copycats told police they used techniques from his recent movie, “The Town”, after they were arrested for a string of 62 small time, New York robberies. In the film, a group of four friends rob a string of banks and always douse the scene with bleach, destroying any DNA evidence that may have been left behind.
The New York Police Department arrested four suspects, accused of netting around $217 000 in loot, from small delis, across Brooklyn and Queens, New York.
The department said that, when questioned the men claimed to have splashed ATMs and cash drawers with bleach to destroy DNA evidence, “like the bad guys in the Ben Affleck-directed film”.
Quite a blow for all those opposed to censorship. Now, they’ll probably be doing background checks at American DVD shops. “I see here you were arrested for peeing in public in 2011, you are restricted to the nature section, until you learn how to use a bush.”
Wait for the headlines:

Ben Affleck is probably feeling pretty proud right now.
