Herbert Chavez, a Filipino fashion designer, has taken his love for Superman a little further than most of us could possibly imagine. When I say a little, I mean he’s spent a decade undergoing plastic surgery to make himself look like a feminine Clark Kent. Let’s face it. People are weird.
The operations this guy has had may remind you of a certain ball grabbing, red leather jacket-wearing individual. He’s gone as far as whitening his skin, slimming down his thighs and changing his lips, cheeks, nose and chin. He’s now planning an op that makes his abs more muscular (really?), and implanting steal rods in his legs to make him taller.
“Superman is my idol. I want to look like him,” says the 35 year old
As a childhood fan of Superman, Chavez collected everything from cups to bedspreads, to action figures and statues.
People in his Calamba, south of Manilla, call him the “village Superman”. He says that doing good deeds is what makes a hero, something that he thinks is worth teaching children.
We should show them that even if you’re just a regular father or mother, anybody can become a superhero, he said.
“Doing good to someone, to your neighbourhood or to your social life, that makes you a superhero.”
I’m not sure how I feel about taking life lessons from Super Jackson, but I’m digging the “social life” part. That means that partying makes you a hero.
On that note, it’s Friday, and there are only a few hours left of acting like you’re working.
