Those blessed with early access to the iPhone 4S have spent most of their time talking about Siri, the voice-activated feature that can answer questions like “What’s the time?”, and “What does prawn mean?” They’ve also found that it has a pretty decent cache of responses for people who ask their phone stupid questions.
It turns out that Apple Engineers fully expected people to mess around with their new toy, and coded in a couple of Easter eggs for Siri to respond with when being asked weird or obscure questions.
To those who ask “What is the meaning of life?”, we’ve had the following responses:
“Try and be nice to people. Avoid eating fat. Read a good book every now and then.”
“I can’t answer that right now, but give me some very long time to write a play in which nothing happens.”
“I love you.”
And because this thing was designed by a bunch of geeks, when people ask “What’s the answer to life, the universe and everything?”, Siri answers “42.”
But there’s more!
User: Where do babies come from?
Siri: “From their mothers.”User: Why did the chicken cross the road?
Siri: “To get to the other side?”
And what I think might be the best one so far –
User: What’s the best phone?
Siri: “Wait…there are other phones?”
Nice job, Apple.
