Klingon is a fictional language spoken by an alien warrior race in the Star Trek series – those guys that look like they have six-packs on their foreheads. But, according to Jonathan Brown from the UK, it also has some other uses. Although getting laid is not one of them, he does claim it can help people suffering from dyslexia.

Brown was the lead linguist on an educational Klingon series of CDs, released by the Klingon Language Institute and, in the process of writing the scripts and recording the lessons, taught himself a new way for dealing with his own dyslexia:

Working on the translation has helped me understand where I’ve been having problems all my life with languages, I realised I’d been trying to remember the words in the name part of my brain and because I can’t remember names, I can’t remember the words. With the Klingon language games used on the CD, I tended to put words into a different place and it went into my long term memory.

That’s pretty awesome, or shall I say, buy’ ngop!
