“Ker-ching!”
FourFourTwo is a venerable British football mag, and each year their website runs a survey detailing the bottom line of England’s most popular sport. And when I say bottom line, I’m being euphemistic – we’re talking millions upon millions of Pounds in an industry that draws the attentions of billions around the world each year.
So what were some of the highlights:
- Liverpool FC spent almost £7,5 million per Premiership point they picked up last year (since being bought), £2 million more per point more than Manchester FC. LFC owner, John Henry is also the highest-ranked new owner on the list.
- Manchester FC is the world’s richest club by way of the fact that owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the richest person in English football, worth £20 billion, according to the list.
- Fabio Capello is the richest manager, with more than £38 million in his personal fortune (Sir Alex Ferguson only comes in with a paltry £27 million).
- David Beckham remains the richest English player, with an estimated fortune of £135 million.
