AlphaDog: The Latest In Terrifying, Military-Grade Robotics [VIDEO]

Boston Dynamics, a tech company working under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has released the latest in its BigDog project line – Alpha Dog, an SUV-sized, four-legged robot equipped to carry a little under 200kg in gear over a range of 32km, in harsh conditions. It’s a giant, terrifying, military robot dog. Take a look.

You can see some of the Boston Dynamics guys trying to kick the Alpha Dog over in the video above – without much success. I mean, you guys have seen Star Wars, right? Those things from The Empire Strikes Back? This is their grandpappy. They’ll start field testing these in controlled military conditions some time next year.

Please adjust your expectations for the robot apocalypse to include giant robot dogs.
