Producer, Rick Leed announced at a press release today the production of a reality show centered on the lives of three of Nelson Mandela’s grandchildren – Dorothy Adjoa Amuah, Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, and Swati Dlamini. Leed is known for his work on the American reality series, Dr. 90210. The three stars are known for being related to somebody important.
The show, as yet unnamed, is set to air in early 2012, with director Graeme Swanepoel at the helm. Swanepoel’s website says he is the creator of such cult television shows as “Running With The Reps” and “Cream Cartel,” neither of which I have heard of before right now. Said Swanepoel about the project:
This is about three women… Breaking away from the [Mandela] legacy to find their own feet.
Because, you know, what better way to break from a legacy than start a reality series that people will watch solely because of that same legacy?
If you’d like to watch some television that doesn’t make you want to claw your eyes out, though, please do check out The Compound.
