Eyewitness News radio bulletins will never be the same again after one newsreader lost it last night and f-bombed all kinds of philosophies to anyone that was listening to the 01h00 news. Anarchist and environmentalist, Mark Esterhuysen, probably won’t be reading the news anymore. NSFW, obviously.

The bulletin begins as it normally would, conservative and trustworthy; something you’d expect from a news agency such as Eyewitness News.

Mark even calmly introduces himself, as he probably normally does when beginning one of his news bulletins.

Then it gets uninhibited. Mark literally goes rogue, f-bombing anything from “racism” to “perpetual economic growth on a finite planet”. And there is also a little bit about us all being wild animals.

Mark is (or was, rather) the junior news anchor and desk editor at Primedia Broadcasting.

His Linkedin profile seems quite normal at first glance, and he even worked as a news anchor at Tuks FM for a while.

But I noticed this little interesting bit:

My main passion is for nature and raising awareness about the destructiveness of the dominant culture, capitalism and meaningless consumerism.

That explains it.

Some 40 seconds after going rogue, his producer managed to drown him out with a Rod Stewart track.

Who knows, maybe he’ll become some kind of activist hero now. Although, his Twitter feed has been rather quiet today.
