With a name like Doña Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, 18th Duchess of Alba, one might excuse her for looking like a struck match. Clearly someone does, seeing as the twice-widowed aristocrat is getting remarried to Alfonso Diez, a man 24 years her junior. The news was announced after she bequeathed every penny she owns, to her children.
She did this, in an attempt to put her children’s suspicions of foul play to rest. Of course, being one of Spain’s richest women, it comes with the territory to be weary of anyone trying to marry in to the family.
Fact is, she is 85, and has a permanent case of skydiving face, so you might see what may have put the doubt in their minds.
Her fortune is comprised of real estate, palaces, mansions and treasures; including paintings by masters from Goya to Velazquez, Murillo, Rembrandt and Rubens. She is also reputedly worth between six hundred million and 3,5 billion Euro.
The wedding will not allow any press, according to the Duchess. And, none of her friends will be present, due to a lack of space. She will be married in a private family Ceremony in early October.
Doña is the descendant of King James II of England, through his illegitimate son the Duke of Berwick (1670–1734). She is a distant relative of Sir Winston Churchill and Diana, Princess of Wales.
Now, imagine kissing that face and try keeping in your lunch.
