We all have our lapses of judgment. But some of us make such horrendously poor decisions that one simply has to ask, “What were they on?”. Every week we bring you three contenders in what can only be described as a battle of small wits. So, with great pleasure we present this week’s three La Fee Absinthe-Minded Moment of the Week finalists. Inside we have the Facebook, Somalian Islamic insurgent-run radio station, and NASA. But who claims the prize for the most mindbogglingly foolish tomfoolery of the week? Click through to find out!
Third place – NASA
NASA says that its out-of-control climate satellite is expected to crash to Earth sometime on Friday evening. Because scientists were drinking so much absinthe at the time of programming the satellite, there is still much uncertainty over when and where the satellite will re-enter the atmosphere. The odds of it landing on you are 1 in 3 200, so keep an eye out later.
Second place – Facebook
Facebook: you are not Twitter. No doubt that, if you use Facebook, your newsfeed will have experienced differing levels of hate directed at the social media giant. Mark Zuckerberg said: “Millions and millions of people have spent years curating the stories of their lives, and there’s no way to share them.” OK Mark, put the absinthe down please, we were doing that already.
The winner – Somalian Islamic insurgent-run radio station
The Somalian Islamic insurgent-run radio station that is awarding guns, bombs and books to three children that took part in a Quran recital contest, is not winning. The first prize winner in the contest received a rifle and $700, the second prize winner got a rifle and $500, and the third prize winner received two bombs. Hopefully the “secret” US drone base in the Seychelles will take care of this soon.
