“Too close for re-makes, I’m switching to 3D!”
Okay, so these are not quite re-makes, and TGI’ts not Monday anymore, but Hollywood’s pathological lack of imagination/lust for audience dollars gathers force as it continues to pilfer the back catalogue of fan favourite flicks. This time not to re-make, or reboot, but to re-D into 3D.
Reports emerge that both Top Gun and Titanic are to receive the 3D treatment and be re-released to audiences around the world as early as next year. Producer’s are gushing about the fan favourites’ eligibility’ for 3D treatment, and how they’re confident we’re all going to rush to cinemas next year and pay hundreds to watch the big ship sink and the little man fly into our faces once more.
We’ll keep you updated as more and more of the films that time forgot are bumped into 3D. Perhaps the 2ov-powers-that-be will allow me a new feature to join Re-Make Monday? 3D Tuesday? [Don’t even think about it. – Ed]
