With more and more rubbish polluting our broadcast TV screens in South Africa, and more and more people opting for a broadband subscription over a satellite TV subscription, it is refreshing to see that local digital and TV production geniuses are able to get their preferred content “out there”. With local TV targeting the lowest common denominator, most of the “good stuff” will never see the light of day, with all the actors and directors busying themselves with mundane paid-for work.
That was before we made ‘Witch Doctor Watts’ – a 2oceansvibe TV exclusive.
Most famous for his role as Twakkie, part of South Africa’s most famous comedy duo – Corne & Twakkie – headlining for many years as “The Most amazing Show,” Rob Van Vuuren‘s acting/comedic credentials extend far further, not least of which is his award for the Nando’s Best Comic Performance by an Actor at Grahamstown 2008.
Director Ari Kruger comes from an extensive background of animation and visual effects, having worked on commercials, print campaigns and music videos for some of the top studios both in Cape Town and Sydney.
Alongside this career, Ari has been harnessing his writing and directing skills through the outlet of short films, having recently been accepted as the only international finalist at Tropfest 2011 for his short “Focus”.
‘Witch Doctor Watts’ is a weekly 2oceansvibe TV show,
and kicks off tomorrow.
Then every Tuesday thereafter at 10h00.
Not to be missed!
