“From the Postsecret site – anyone else recognise that skyline?”
I love Postsecret. I’ll just put that right there. It’s an ongoing community art project that started in the States in 2005. People around the world design and create an anonymous postcard, containing a secret they have, and post it to Frank Warren, the creator of the project.
From about 2005 on, he began a blog that featured some of the thousands of secrets mailed to him each week, and frankly, it’s a fascinating experience reading them. Some are mundane, others are heartbreaking, but they are all exceptionally moving if you consider the effort made to share them.
Now, after almost seven years of receiving the secrets (over half a million, says Warren) and posting selected ones online, five books and countless exhibitions and seminars around America – Postsecret are releasing their very own app for iPhone and iPad (Android’s is en route too) that will allow users around the world to view and share old and new secrets, and also create their own and submit them anonymously. You can check out the Postsecret site for more info, and take a minute and browse some of the cards on display.
Here’s the trailer for the app.
