Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant
Two weeks ago, Precious Msibi was forced by her HR manager to strip naked in front of colleagues, including males – during Woman’s Month! The strip was done to “prove that she was female”. After assurances by the police that the guy would be arrested, she claims that nothing has been done so far.
Msibi, who is 52, said yesterday that the police had told her they would “make arrests soon”, but that nothing had happened for the last two weeks.
It pains me to learn that the police have not taken any action against him. I had been humiliated. This pains me. For my 22 years of service I’ve been treated like a slut. I can’t sleep at night and it’s like somebody will come and say this was all a dream. After all that has happened, I’m now practically out of a job. After this, I don’t see it fit for me to go back.
Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has now also stepped in and condemned the “callous and demeaning” treatment of Msibi.
It is totally unacceptable for anyone to be made to suffer the indignity that Precious Msibi was made to endure. It is even more unacceptable that this happened in the month that is dedicated as a special period to honour all women.
