A meeting was held by Britain’s National Security Council yesterday, chaired by David Cameron himself, at 10 Downing Street. But as International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell left the meeting, he carried documents containing very sensitive information regarding Afghan president Hamid Karzai in a very careless way. A journalist was able to snap a clear picture of the text and this image has now gone viral.

The papers welcomed Afghan president Hamid Karzai’s announcement that he will stand down in 2014, stating. Here’s the text:
“This is very important. It improves Afghanistan’s political prospects very significantly. We should welcome Karzai’s announcement in private and in public. Afghan perceptions of violence are very important for their confidence in their future, and for their readiness to work for the Afghan government. Have we got the strategic communications on levels of violence right?”
