“She’s his Barbie Girl, in his Barbie World”
In news that is completely normal and not creepy in the slightest, hundreds of ‘Royalists’ (yes, apparently they number in the hundreds..) are descending on London stores desperate to snatch up doll replicas of Britain’s latest royal two-some- HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The company that sells the plastic pair describe them as “instantly recognizable and, some might say, delightfully kitsch”- which might very well be the euphemism of the year.
The dolls, which retail at a snazzy £150 the pair, pay homage to the Royal Wedding held in April, that had those hundreds of Royalists glued to their screens, lost in a world of romantic fantasy, and the rest of us glued to the ugliest parade of hats since the Obama Inauguration. Both Will Doll and Kate Doll are decked out in their matrimonial finery, and come with cheesy just-married grins plastered across their little faces.
Also included is a decorative stand for positioning the royal couple in pride of place in any Royalists basement lair living room, right next to the D&D pewter and crystal wizard and dragon. Like I said, not creepy. At all.
