Travelers to next month’s Rugby World Cup may be pleased to discover that Air New Zealand has recently launched its “cuddle class” seats. A redesign of the Boeing 777-300 now allows economy class travelers to lie flat for the first time on a long haul flight. A lovely idea, as long as you’re not very tall.
Economy passengers can now lie flat, or curl up as a couple, although it has been pointed out by critics that only couples with fairly short legs – or parents with very small children – could feasibly curl up in the new beds.
Transport blog Autopia pointed out, “It probably works best if you’re not very tall or you’re traveling with kids… and that, of course assumes your traveling companion is actually someone you want to sleep next to.”
Mile high activities won’t be tolerated, apparently.
