These Guys Made A Robot Bird [VIDEO]

They made a robot seagull. It flies by flapping its robot seagull wings. I mean yes this is a huge breakthrough in terms of flight engineering, but even if that’s not your jam, you’re going to want to take a look at the awesome two-metre wide flying robot on display at TEDGlobal.

The horrifying robot seagull was made by Markus Fischer and his team at Festo, a German company that has also made robot jellyfish and penguins, for reasons that remain unclear. This one sort of makes sense, though. They call it SmartBird, which is as good a name as any.[
