Cruising around somewhere in Pretoria is the unwitting winner of R30-million in the National Lottery. He or she has been going about their business every day, with no idea that they hold the ticket to the PowerBall jackpot drawn on 17 August last year. And there are only six more days until the winnings expire.
National Lottery operator Gidani announced yesterday that the prize is still unclaimed, and urgently called on the person who purchased the ticket with the numbers 11, 17, 30, 35, 45 and PowerBall 20 to come forward. It was reportedly bought somewhere in Eastern Pretoria.
This has only happened once before in the history of the National Lottery, when a Gauteng winner failed to claim a R3,6-million jackpot within the requisite 365 days from the date of the draw.
But forfeiting R30-million would be a major bummer. Is this person some kind of millionaire already? Did the dog eat his or her ticket?
