Souveneir t-shirts handed out at a rock festival in Gera, eastern Germany, were decorated with skulls, right-wing flags and the words “hardcore rebels,” to appeal to the vaguely neo-Nazi crowd the festival attracts. Except when the shirts got washed, the douchey decorations faded, replaced with anti-extremist slogans.
And understand that I am ALL ABOUT punking neo-Nazi’s. Granted, the initiative was maybe a little dampened by the fact that the left-wing group responsible, Exit, only made out about 250 shirts, and there’s been more media about the cleverness of ‘trojan t-shirts’ than the actual impact this has had on potential right-wing kids.
Still, it’s a nice thought; says Bernd Wagner, Exit’s founder:
“With these T-shirts, we aimed to make ourselves known among right-wingers, especially among young ones who are not yet fully committed to the extreme right.”
And I mean given how many young right-wingers are on Twitter, I’m sure they know all about this by now.
